This coming Thursday is an office baby shower for one of the case managers at work. She is due the end of April. I knit a hat for the baby boy to be, but it came out much bigger than I expected. Since it will be too late in the year for the baby to wear a hat now, hopefully it will fit well by next winter. I used worsted weight yarn (Encore) instead of baby yarn, which may be why it came out so big. Anyway, I think Shanda will still like it. She was one of my knitting students at work for a while.
Chris brought home a bouquet of tulips this week. One of the EVPs gave them out as a thank you for their team/department winning some award in the industry. Tulips always make me think of spring, new green grass, and sunny weather. With the up and down weather we are having here in the mid-Atlantic, I really enjoyed having tulips in the house. They get me psyched up for the upcoming Philadelphia Flower Show that is in early March. My mom and I took a day off from work to go to the show and escape into forced springtime. I can't wait!
Tomorrow the forecast is for a crazy snow/rain storm. The weather people keep changing the expected snowfall totals--I've heard anywhere from 3 to 6 inches vs. 6 to 12 inches. Snow turning into rain, snow not turning into rain. Ugh. Now if schools are closed, in particular Philadelphia schools, then my office will close as well. I actually want to go to work, but I hate driving home through the city to the burbs during or after a snowstorm because Philadelphia is notorious for not cleaning the streets. It shall be interesting to see what tomorrow brings.
The Oscars are on currently. Chris Rock is not as funny as I expected. This is the first year I haven't seen any of the major films nominated for movie of the year. It has been ages since I've been to the movies. I think the last movie we say in the theatre was "Meet the Fochers," which was hysterical, but not Oscar worthy. I hear that all five films nominated are great, so I will have to catch up with them on DVD or on Demand/cable.
