Last night I decided it would be a good time to dye some yarn. I tend to have more creative energy in the late evening/night, so why not?! I had bought some "dyeable" wool from Knitpicks a while ago and had been collecting some kool aid packets of various colors. I dyed one skein of fingering weight merino yarn and one skein of worsted Peruvian wool. The red kool aid took over the one skein, but I think it still turned out nicely. I used the microwave method of dyeing. The second picture is a close up of wild dark cherry flavor--I thought it would be as red as the regular cherry, but it surprisingly came out pink! I really like how bright it is. The yarns are still drying on my radiator, after hanging all night. I now really need to get a swift so I can wind them into useable balls of yarn.
There is a convention of the knitting guild association this weekend in Valley Forge, PA, not too far from my home. I am not a guild member, as I am not aware of one being in my immediate area. I had wanted to join the Main Line Guild, but their meetings are too far from home, especially since I work late most nights. The market place at the convention is open to the public. I have a busy weekend planned, but I am going to try to squeeze a few shopping hours in on either Saturday or Sunday morning. There appear to be many great vendors there--maybe I'll finally get that swift!
