Friday morning, using a vacation day, I went to see the Dali exhibit at the Philadelphia Art Museum. I was lucky that the exhibit had been extended a few weeks and decided to go alone to be able to go at my own speed through the museum. I had a great time. The Dali exhibit was crowded, but I was able to see everything I wanted to see. I never realized how linked his art was to Sigmund Freud. Dali's various periods of work throughout his life were displayed chronologically, explaining the different influences on him at different ages. He died in 1989 and painted his last piece in 1983. His last piece of work was very simplistic compared to his earlier work. My favorite painting was one of his sister gazing out a window at the sea.
After viewing Dali's works, I roamed through the museum and checked out some of my favorites--Degas, Monet, and the Japanese tea house. It was a very relaxing day! I put some of my photos in my album "Peek into my world" on the left sidebar of my blog if you want to see them.
Saturday I went out to tea/lunch with my friend Christine. We tried a new tea shop located in Green Lane, PA called Barbara Ann's Victorian Tea Room and Garden. It was lovely. We ended up ordering Peach iced tea instead of hot tea because it was so sunny out. I would definitely return to this tea room--it was more like a cafe than a traditional tea room, but the atmosphere was so pleasant and relaxing. Christine is my friend whose goal is to fill life with fun and pleasantries in order to keep the stressful things at bay. We had a blast! We are already planning our next tea outing for the end of June.
Saturday night my sister in law had a little birthday celebration for me. We got to have a nice meal on her new deck and enjoy the nice weather. It was a bit chilly for my mother in law, but I enjoyed it. Donna baked a delicious lemonade cake for me. Yum!
On Saturday I also received a terrific RAOK from Suzie. She sent me a copy of Domino Knitting and a cute note card that has a pattern for a baby blanket on it. It was exciting to be RAOK'd! Thanks again Suzie, that was very generous of you!
This weekend was the annual Air Show in Horsham at the Willow Grove Joint Naval/Air Base (or something like that!) I didn't realize it was planned for this weekend and wondered why planes were buzzing my house at the end of last week. At one point I was convinced that I was doomed because it sounded like a plane was going to crash into the house. Turns out it was the Blue Angels practicing maneuvers overhead. We are in their flight path, so I got to see some of the air show from my yard. At one point, the planes buzzed the house in formation so low that I could read the writing on their wings. It was cool while also freaking me out a bit.
I am leaving for Florida on Thursday morning. I am almost all packed and still need to figure out what knitting project to bring with me. My mom and I are going to Sarasota to visit my grandmother and aunt. I already looked up two yarn shops in the area, in case I have time to shop for yarn. I am looking forward to visiting the beach!
