This is my first Sockapaloooza sock completed. The photo does not do the pattern justice. While this was a quick sock to knit, I feel the urge to start something new instead of the second sock! I did cast on for the second one, and will HAVE to knit it! I want to finish it before I start a bigger project and before Project Spectrum gets into full swing. This will definitely be my weekend project! I did work on the sock for a bit at work and received lots of compliments on the color and the pattern. I have never knit a solid colored sock before--which surprised me. The closest to solid was an Opal speckled yarn. The solid color yarn shows errors much more easily than the crazy colored sock yarn I normally use. I still have my second Jaywalker sock to knit and am determined to finish both pairs of socks by the end of March.
D is for Deer and Degas...
In the ABC theme of photos, I was trying to think of a good D theme and was hoping my neighborly deer family came for a visit. Today I was in luck. This was as close as I could get before they started to run away. It is hard to see in the photo, but there were at least five out there today. I have seen up to nine in the yard. Considering I am in suburban Philadelphia, I think that is a lot of deer to be roaming around. When I first went out to take the photo, I really thought there were only two deer--then three more stood up!
Before I got the deer picture, I took this one of a small Degas ballerina statue Chris bought me years ago. Degas is one of my favorite artists--I love the French Impressionists. She rests inside my china cabinet, protecting the martini glasses!
In preparation for Project Spectrum, I gathered some of my pink and red yarns to see just what I have in my stash that would go along with March's theme colors. These are what I found in my living room yarn basket. I don't know what I will knit---so far it is looking like the sock yarn is winning out as a clear choice!
Saturday is the first official yarn crawl of my knitting group. We are headed to at least three shops in the Lahaska/New Hope part of Bucks County. While I absolutely have no need for any more yarn, there is always the chance of finding a good sale! Plus, I do have a secret pal that could use some knitterly goodness.
Have a great weekend!
