So I started knitting the bobbi bear back when I was pregnant. After delivery, he sat partially knit in a bag for about six weeks. I picked him up again last week and finished his head and ears over the weekend. I am now working on his arms, after stuffing him. Chris remarked that it looks like I am knitting our son a giant tooth, which is funny because I just had another root canal treatment the end of last week.
I think it is really funny how big this bear is. Apparently I failed to investigate the size, which when complete will be 15 inches tall. Whenever I saw the pattern online, I thought the bear was small, or baby-sized, maybe six inches. When I saw the pattern in my favorite yarn shop, I just grabbed it and bought the yarn. I wondered why I need two skeins of yarn, but I really wanted to make this bear for the baby. I guess in my pregnancy/placenta brain fuzz I didn't pay any attention to the real details. So now I am knitting a bear that is almost as long as my baby. I don't think he'll be carrying this bear around anytime soon! I plan to give it to him for Christmas.
Baby Andrew received an official welcome greeting from the White House over the weekend. I found a link online to request a presidential greeting for the birth of a baby. I filled it out, not knowing what I'd get. I'm not a fan of the current administration, but I thought it would be nice for Andrew to have something like that for his baby book. I guess it is my tax dollars at work!
