I cannot believe how fast this year has flown by. In some ways, I don't remember anything since my year was consumed by all things related to BABY. This time last year I was not pregnant, but that changed in a matter of weeks and the months of testing, doctor appointments, preparing the nest, and planning led to Andrew. The weeks/months that followed his birth are a blur too. Where did it go? Here's hoping that 2008 will be filled with many more adventures, and a new way of looking at life through the eyes of a child. Knitting and crafting has taken second place to baby care, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. We waited a long time to have a child, so all those hobbies that filled my time can play second fiddle now.
I do have knitting goals for '08. I have six Socks that Rock kits that arrived on time every other month this year--all remain unknit. I want to work on resuming sock knitting. I did not knit ANY socks this year, which is bizarre considering the huge stash of sock yarn I own. I also want to work on knitting Andrew a new sweater each year. While his is small, that isn't too hard. I am currently working on the EZ Surprise Baby Jacket for him. I anticipate that it will be about the right size for next winter, but if not, he'll get to wear it early. I also want to knit him some hats and a nice blanket, possibly the spriral one. For gifts, my sister is pregnant again (!) so I need to make something special for the new baby. My SIL is in the process of adopting a baby (or two) from Guatamala and China. The one from Guatamala is J.J. and most likely/hopefully will be here by the end of the summer. I have a blanket in mind for him, since we won't know his size until he is here. So my knitting to-do list is:
- BSJ for Andrew
- spiral blanket for Andrew
- baby blanket for J.J.
- baby item for cousin to be
- hats for Andrew
- Knit from Stash!! (I seriously need to work on this, since I lost my yarn storage to Andrew's nursery!)
We are having a quiet (relatively) New Year's Eve tonight, since Andrew dictates our life right now. He isn't enjoying sleeping lately. They say at three months it gets easier, but now that he is officially three months old, he is getting more challenging. I just remind myself that this too will pass. Hopefully this refuse to nap or sleep alone phase will end soon. He has developed a new scream/screech that just pierces the eardrum. Maybe he'll be an opera singer someday!
I think of things to blog about all the time, but then when I have a few minutes to do so I completely forget what to write. Maybe that will change with the new year. Andrew is freaking out right now, so with that scream, I wish you a peaceful and happy 2008!
