Besides taking photos, one of my favorite photography-related hobbies is to creatively use my photos to make books and gifts. I recently was able to purchase a coupon on Groupon for a Shutterfly photo book for half price! I've been uploading and spending time each day designing my book, which will commemorate my son's third birthday. Each year I've made him a birthday photo book, as well as a few for just special events, like a trip we went on. While the company will create a photo book for you, you can also customize your own, which is what I like to do. It's as close to scrapbooking as I'll get!
Another fun photo-related project I like to create is cards. I have used my photos to make greeting cards and holiday cards for the past three years. I love receiving photo cards for the holidays each year to see how everyone's family has grown, and now that I have a child, I get to make my own! I have made individual cards just for specific events, such as mother's day, too, but I have the most fun with holiday cards. There are so many different styles to choose from, it's hard to pick just one. This year I've narrowed it down to several card designs, but am leaning towards this cute snowman one, since I collect snowmen or this one, as it is colorful and simple.
I have a half dozen photos to narrow down now to pick one for the cards, but it will be a surprise for those who will receive a card this year! Shutterfly is having a sale on holiday cards now too, so if you have the photo you want to share for this year's card, now is the time to order!
If you are a blogger, you can participate in the "50 free cards from Shutterfly" promotion by checking out this link here. I learned about this promotion on Facebook and coincidently was creating my Shutterfly photobook this week too!
