I am not complaining at all about the amazing spring weather we have been having this year (nor did I miss the lack of snow and freezing temps all winter!) I realize it is largely due to global warming and shifts in el nina or something like that, but I love spring and how pretty everything outdoors looks during it. The frost date was changed to a month earlier for my area in the US and that meant that I even got to plant my herb and veggie garden a month earlier too. It seems that all of the trees and flowers have bloomed at once this spring.
Spring means seasonal allergies for my family, though. In years past I suffered through it. This year has been tough, with a month long battle against my sinuses in March and the cold that kept returning to our family! To deal with allergies this year I have added taking a Claritin tablet daily to my routine and I have to say it has really helped! I am still congested when it wears off by morning, but it does get me through the whole day with little sneezing and reduced congestion.
My son is battling seasonal allergies this year too. I noticed in the fall of 2010 that he seemed to have fall allergies, but this is the first year I've noticed he is suffering in the spring. To relieve his symptoms I've been giving him Children's Claritin, which he is happy to take because he reports feeling relief. I can hear how less congested he sounds during the day. I've tried giving him the medicine at different times of the day and it seems that if I give it to him at dinner time, he gets the most relief for nightime and during the day.
I'm happy that I was selected to participate in the Children's Claritin Mom Crew program this year, as it has helped me connect with other moms who also have kiddos dealing with allergies. While I've been enjoying all of the perfect weather spring days we've been having, the rain this past weekend was welcome! I hope it's cleaned the air of some of the pollen, as well as washed the green caste off my blue car!
