As a self-admitted lip balm aficionado I have to say that trying the latest flavors/scents/formulas is a past time of mine. Lip Balm is one of those products I feel one can never have too much of and it is so affordable. I have lip balms all over my house and car so that I am never with out one when in need of some moisture. I had the chance to become a Carmex Blog Squad member and got a great package from them to review some of their new products!
Carmex has two new flavors of moisturizing lip balms available: Vanilla and Lime Twist! Both flavors are sold in the click stick container, which makes them extra easy to use without an applicator (finger!) They feature an SPF rating of 15 and have three additional moisturizers more than the original Carmex lip balm! I really appreciate that Carmex makes lip products that are extra moisturizing and not addictive! (See the info on their website about the addiction myth and answers to other funny questions!) They also do not test their products on animals.
Now I have been most familiar with the standard little pot of balm that holds the original formula of Carmex. I've been using that stuff for years, mainly in the winter when my lips are often their worst. I used to keep a little pot of the stuff in my coat pocket until I discovered that Carmex lip balm also came in a stick form! It definitely is easier to apply lip balm from a stick applicator, in my opinion. And it's less messy. With the introduction of two new flavors, Carmex is getting even better. I love Vanilla lip balms. The Carmex Vanilla moisturizing lip balm is my favorite out of the two new flavors. It has a light vanilla scent, is not over powering, and definitely feels moisturizing. I can't taste a vanilla flavor, but that is good, as I don't want to eat my lip balm. After applying the lip balm I feel that cool, tingly Carmex feeling, which is probably the camphor and menthol ingredients. I found that the lip balm lasted a long time on my lips. I plan to take them to the beach (if Hurricane Irene doesn't destroy our vacation plans) and test out SPF 15. The Lime Twist Carmex lip balm works the same as the vanilla, but has a zesty lime scent. I didn't love the scent, but it was tolerable and the product certainly moisturized my lips well.
Carmex also sent me a Moisture Plus ultra hydrating lip balm in clear satin gloss finish. I love this lip balm! It really is great at hydrating and feels wonderful. It is packaged in a sleek stick with a slanted tip for easy application. Because it's clear, I think it would work great to use over lip color to add a layer of hydration. This is the product that will be in my coat pocket all winter long! I think it will be great at relieving chapped lips. You can find the Moisture Plus, along with other Carmex products at CVS, Walgreens and Walmart.
Thanks to Carmex and their blog squad for sending me these products to try out and review! My son loves the picnic blanket that came with the lip balms!
