Busy busy busy. Work is crazy busy. I have so many knotted muscles in my back that it hurts when Chris touches it. I need to destress now!
On the knitting front, I am continuing to plug along on my first Jaywalker sock. I am coming close to completion. It just isn't happening as fast as I would like, but I finally got the hang of the pattern. I switched to dpns from circulars, which seemed to help with keeping track of the pattern. I was using bamboo needles, but they bent on me, enough to be annoying, so I bought metal dpns. I had trouble finding size US 1 metal ones and ended up at AC Moore for the Susan Bates sock needle set (it has four sizes.) I now own 0000 sized needles! I received my Sockapaloooza match this week. Now to figure out what to knit!
I finished a second little critter too. This one is for Nick. The pattern is from Jess Hutchinson's booklet.
I also knit a scarf for Heather's church auction. I had a skein of this Disco yarn that I received in the mail. It looks like a flashy cookie monster. The scarf turned out cute and Heather thinks some little girl will love it.
In other creativness adventures, I have been working with rubber stamps making cards again. I made a few handmade postcards to send in postcrossing. I am also trying to make Valentine cards this year. I forgot how time consuming it is. The creative process cannot be rushed! LOL
My knitting group is thriving. We met last night from 6:30 until 10ish. What a blast. Those ladies crack me up. We are planning a yarn crawl--shopping at three or four yarn shops and lunch--for a Saturday in February. It should be a blast. I am hoping to go the the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival this year with some of them too. Last night at knitting, this man showed up based on a referral from a local library. He brought two needles and a ball of itchy wool yarn that had bumps in it. It felt just horrible. He had no idea how to knit and wanted to learn. Two of us tried to teach him. He sort of got the knit stitch down and then left without even thanking us. Very odd. Also at knitting, the local Jenkintown Knitting Shop owners stopped by and gave us a demo of their new yarn lines. They brought a bunch of sample sweaters that the owner knit. They were beautiful. It was a great night!
Today is ground hog's day. The silly thing predicted six more weeks of winter. Around here, I am still waiting for winter to hit! The weather forcast is threatening an artic breeze soon, but I won't hold my breath. Not that I mind the warmer weather!
Today is also my neice's birthday--she is three! Saturday is her party. I am going to make a Dora the explorer cake for her. She is a big fan of Dora, at least for now. Who knows, maybe she'll be fluent in Spanish someday.
